9 Ways to Spoil Your Cat on National Cat Day

Did you know that National Cat Day is coming up October 29th? While kitties deserve to be spoiled every day, this is a great time for you to give Fluffy some extra TLC. Here, a local Portland, OR vet discusses some cute ways to celebrate National Cat Day.

Toys

Kitties are adorable when they are being playful! Pouncing on that catnip mouse isn’t just fun for Fluffy, however: it’s also great for her, both physically and mentally. Pick up a few new playthings for your frisky pet.

Treats

While our feline pals can be a bit finicky, most of them do have favorite treats. Offer your cat a can of plain tuna in water; some shredded deli meat; plain, cooked fish or poultry with the skin, bones, and fat removed; or some yummy store-bought treats.

Kitty Furniture

While Fluffy will somehow manage to make herself comfortable on your couch or bed, she’ll really appreciate something made to fit her. Pick up your pet a new kitty tent or cat tower. Instant purr!

Catnip Bubbles

While Fluffy will always enjoy catnip mice, you can now give your pet her favorite plant in bubble form. Offer your furball some catnip bubbles.

Apps

There are now apps and games made just for Fluffy. Let your furball try her paw at catching digital mice!

Box Castle

Does your kitty like boxes? If so, why not make Her Furry Majesty her very own box castle? You can add turrets, windows, doors, and even a second story! Then again, a plain cardboard box may also please your feline overlord.

Window Seat

Birdwatching is one of Fluffy’s favorite pastimes, along with napping and looking adorable. Make your furball a comfy window seat, where she can relax and watch birds and squirrels.

Beds

Is your cat sleeping right now? There’s a pretty good chance that she is. We’re not sure why Fluffy is so tired, but we do know that she can sleep up to 20 hours a day. Buy your drowsy pet a cozy new bed!

Attention

The best way to make your cat happy is to pay attention to her. Talk to Fluffy, pet her, and play with her. You’ll get that little motor going in no time!
