It’s that time of year again! Have you finished your holiday shopping? Or are you just getting started? Either way, don’t forget to get something for your cat! A local Portland, OR vet lists some great options below.
If Fluffy could write Santa Claws a wish list, we suspect that comfy beds would be at or near the top. This is a great gift even for furballs that already have beds. Our feline buddies never tire of finding new napping spots!
Did you know that cats have a special olfactory receptor that perfectly fits catnip scent molecules? We’re not sure why Mother Nature made this plant so much fun for Fluffy, but we do know that kitties with catnip are adorable to watch.
Fluffy isn’t shy about using our beds, sofas, chairs, tables, desks, or any other remotely-comfortable pieces of furniture we have. However, she’ll enjoy having some things that she doesn’t have to share. Buy or make your furball some furniture pieces.
Our feline pals just can’t resist exploring boxes. Give your kitty a few empty ones after everyone has opened their presents. Gift bags are also lots of fun for Fluffy.
Treats are a purrfect stocking stuffer for kitties. Pick up a few packages of Fluffy’s favorite brand. Just don’t go overboard: snacks should only make up about 5 percent of your cat’s daily caloric intake.
Want to put that adorable smug/happy look on your cute pet’s face? Plant some wheat grass seeds in a kitty litter box or storage tote, and give it a few weeks to grow. Fluffy will love having her own little ‘lawn’ to look cute on.
Many cats actually prefer running water to standing water. A kitty fountain would make a great gift for Fluffy!
We strongly recommend keeping cats indoors: they are both safer and healthier that way. However, Fluffy will enjoy a comfy window seat where she can nap, sunbathe, and watch local wildlife.
Modern Kitty Playthings
Fluffy always enjoys having some catnip mice in her stocking, but that doesn’t mean she won’t enjoy having something more modern. Get your kitty a remote-controlled mouse, or perhaps a mechanical ‘swimming fish.’
