7 Cute Ways Cats Show Happiness
September 1, 2020

September is Happy Cat Month! Our feline pals are pretty adorable and fun little buddies, and they definitely have a special way of making their humans happy. However, it can be difficult to tell if Fluffy is feeling cheerful or not, especially when she is attacking your shoelaces. We can help! A Gresham, OR vet lists a few signs of kitty contentment below.

Friskiness

Fluffy’s playful streak is one of her most adorable traits. If your furball is frequently pouncing on things, getting the zoomies, or generally acting frisky, it’s a good sign! Of course, one would need to adjust this a bit for senior cats. If your feline buddy is in her golden years, the occasional pounce is a good indication.

Clean Bill Of Health

We know, even grumpy cats can get a clean bill of health. However, most kitties are much more comfortable—and therefore content—with proper veterinary care. If Fluffy gets good marks on her exams, and is current on vaccines and parasite control, she’s probably doing pretty well. Healthy pets are happy pets!

Purr

No surprises here! Although cats don’t only purr when they’re content, Fluffy does tend to start her engine when she’s feeling happy.

Kitty In A Box

Have you recently offered your furry friend a box or a paper bag to look adorable in? Chances are, you’ve got a pretty satisfied feline on your hands!

Slow Blink

This one isn’t quite as well-known as the purr, but it is quite adorable. If your kitty looks at you and slowly blinks, it’s a sign of affection, which translates into happy cat.

Relaxation

Does Fluffy sometimes sprawl out in the middle of the floor? Does she feel comfortable and confidant enough to steal your chair, or drape herself over the back of the sofa? Congratulations! That’s an excellent sign that your feline overlord is, indeed, content.

Affection

Are you helping Fluffy live her best life? Kitties are grateful for the love, care, and catnip we give them. Your cute pet may show her appreciation by stalking you, rubbing your legs, sleeping on top of you, meowing at you, or even attacking you playfully. Did we mention that cats are complicated?

Please contact us, your Gresham, OR vet clinic, if ever we can be of assistance. We’re here to help you keep your cat happy, healthy, and purring!
