Thanksgiving is just around the corner! We would definitely count our feline pals among the things that we are thankful for. But if Fluffy could list the things that she appreciates the most, what do you think would be on her list? A Portland, OR vet offers a few ‘pawsibilities’ in this article.
Cats just happen to be the perfect size to fit into our laps. To be fair, we’re also pretty thankful for this. Settling in with a purring kitty and a good movie is a great way to wind down after a long day!
Fluffy may be a bit finicky at times, but there’s actually a good reason for that. Wild felines always eat their prey fresh. Therefore, kitties tend to balk at anything that smells even slightly off. Offer your pet high-quality food.
Our feline buddies are very clean, so it’s no wonder that they prefer their bathrooms kept that way too. We advise scooping litterboxes daily and changing the litter out every week.
Kitties don’t actually run on solar power. However, they seem to have missed that memo, as many of them love nothing more than to charge their ‘catteries’ by snoozing in warm, sunny spots.
We know, Fluffy is a bit lazy. She also loves birdwatching. Give your furry little voyeur a comfy spot where she can relax, sunbathe, and spy on local wildlife.
Don’t forget that your adorable little pet is a predator at heart. Pouncing, jumping, biting, and scratching are all natural behaviors in cats. Make sure Fluffy has lots of toys to practice her hunting skills on.
While not all cats are susceptible to catnip, the ones that are tend to really, really enjoy it. Of course, giving Fluffy a little ‘nip can be just as fun for you as it is for her. Kitties are often absolutely hilarious when they’re enjoying the euphoria of catnip.
Fluffy probably wouldn’t add us to this list on her own. However, she will both look and feel better with proper care.
Kitties really do appreciate the love, care, and cuddles we offer them. Pay lots of attention to Fluffy, and keep that motor going!
Happy Thanksgiving! Please contact us if ever we can be of assistance. As your Portland, OR vet clinic, we’re here to help!
